and has been for the entire morning. Must have something to do with Eskom’s load shedding and power failure today. Having a look at Mweb and 24.com shows that all the news stories are all from yesterday!
Here is a screenshot of the site as of 12:10pm. Check the title! A real rush job….

It’s back up now
Insider sources tell me this is unrelated to the Eskom incident. Apparently a lax server upgrade…ouch, I wonder how many asses are in the firing line for this one!
Doesn’t look like its up to me!
A site like that can count per minute how much revenue they make / are loosing!
Someone is definitely getting their asses fired!
They charge mainly for impression on advertising. So they’re loosing big time while they’re down. I know a 468 x 60 banner is 22c per impression.. lets say they make 10 000 impressions per hour. Thats R2 000 an hour on that banner. I know they probably make a lot more impressions than that but still R2 000 an hour adds up to somebodies salary at the end of the month..
Hey Tyler, thanks for heads up on the prices. Thats also just one banner. What about all the other forms of advertising, not to mention affiliate sales etc. The numbers can get pretty big!
Then theres the reporters you are paying, and eventually when their news eventually gets onto the site, its “history”… and no-one wants to read “old” news.
24.com have also been affected, but to a lesser extent.
It’s back
Maybe they downgraded to windows servers.
Getting timeouts… / Internal Server Error…
An ASP error message…
