Google are on their way to Africa! Anil Hansjee, Google’s head of European corporate development said that they definitely want to enter Africa, but want to go the mobile internet route instead of using fixed-line. He also said that they are eyeing a couple of acquisitions in Portugal that have connections with their former colonies – Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, Sao Tome, Principe and Morocco.
Google have always been on the forefront of mobile technology, and going this route is nothing strange. What about South Africa?
It will be interesting to know what Google thinks of Africa from an investment point of view. Especially South Africa with some of our world famous SOSA’s.
