As always, everyone wants to be able to run the latest version of MXit on their PC. So courtesy of Defza, here are 3 steps to getting mxit v5 setup and running on your PC through an emulator.
There is one problem with running the latest version of MXit on your PC. The .jad file expires every day, so everytime you want to run MXit v5 on your PC, you must re-download the .jad file from the official MXit site.
3 steps to run MXit v5 on your PC
- Go to www.mxit.co.za/wap and click Download MXit. Then click on Nokia 6270 to start downloading the .jad file and save it on your PC. (The Nokia 6270 version is one of the most compatibile versions.)
- Download the Mpowerplay emulator. You can also click here to start Mpowerplay emulator now without downloading it, but this does take longer.
- Start Mpowerplay, and open the .jad file you just saved. Thats it!
As you can see, it is quite a process to run MXit v5 on your PC. So why not just use MXit v3 which you don’t have to download everytime you want to run it. Download this mxitk.jad file and run it using MpowerPlay. Or just click here to run MXit right now!
ok so i followed your steps and i got to the point where i was entering personal details on the emulator in mxit v5 but now its telling me that i have and invalid client so what must i do now

Defza has told me there might be a problem with MXit.jad file and that it might expire every 24 hours. I will see if I can get some more info and try and find a solution to the problem.
hi Dean… the same thing happens 2me… what i do is i download mxit from http://www.mxit.co.za/wap and save it..then u open up mpowerplayer and click “open” and open the mxit file that u saved.. uv gota do this everytime but it works…

and back to the drawing board i closed my mpowerplayer and opened it and then i tryed to open the .jad file and it gives me a dam error so i came back to your site and tried the link and it gives me the same error. So either you guys have not covered this new version from other angles or i cant read the site

Version 5 dont work on PC period! I have tried everything. I tried the lastest version for 3 phones, updated my JRE and downloaded and installed latest mpowerplayer but nothing. There is a compatibility issue with the JAR and running it on PC. The jad file is nothing. Its just a shortcut to the JAR file (a JAR file is which is the equivilent to an exe in windows, but for JAVA). Version 3 and below works still.
I will decompile the JAR file asap and see wotz going on. Not sure if its allowed but anyhow…They taking far to f**king long to fix it so i will take a bash
You dont need it and you dont need to keep downloading the JAR file. Look inside the jad(shortcut) file and will a direct link to the JAR file. Download the JAR file and save it to your PC and open it with mPowerPlayer:

When U try to run v5 on your PC with the jar file, you always get the error: “your mxit client could not be validated, please download again…”. I had the same problem with my phone when I transferred & installed the app with bluetooth object push using the jar file. Normally, an apps jad file is also located in the META-INF folder called MANIFEST.MF, the difference between the jad & manifest of mxit is the last 5 lines of the jad file, especially the line that starts with: “c:” followed by something that looks like a kind of authentication serial that gets checked everytime you log on, so I just modified the jad file on my phone and now it works perfectly.
To use mxit V5 on ur pc without downloading it everyday, do this:
Go to http://www.mxit.co.za/wap and download the jad file (most versions should work, I downloaded the motorola E1000 file, it works best on my V3x), open the jad file with notepad and copy the jar file location to your browser to download it.
Now that you have the 2 files open the jad file and edit the jar file location to the where the jar file is located on your pc, the easiest is to move the jar file to your c drive, the location should then read file:/C:(jar file name).jar, save the jad file and close notepad.
Thats it, just open the JAD file with mpower player & enjoy, the location of the jad file doesn’t matter, aslong as the jar file location in the jad file is correct.

help please i cant seem to get v5 working on my pc. wen i save the jar file i get an error msg saying dat da jnlp is missing and i cant save the jar file from above because it tells me site cannot be found. v3 was so musch easier with the jar file but v5 is betta. pls help ive beent strugglig sice v5 started. Natasha, it could be that your sound cards midi tones are turned down. Go to controll panel -> sounds & audio devices, in the volume tab click on advanced, turn the midi volume all the way up & unmute it if its muted.

Whenever i try to log on to mxit v5 and v3 i insert all my details required and then after that it says registering, but it stays there for a very long time.

Well, I’ve modded a Mxit jar so that it would work without authentication from the server, it is a V5.1.1 Mxit, but I changed the version to 3.0.5 to fool the servers, and not request authentication of the client.

This work’s perfectly but you will not be able to see other peoples moods as in V5.1, the server will not respond with that info because it appears that your Mxit doesn’t support it, other people will however be able to see your mood.
To get the moods working, your Mxit client has to be V5.1!
Which is also possible, but you need to insert a unique serial into each client, if anyone wants a real working V5.1 Mxit mail me , and i will send u client with your own unique serial, once that client has logged in with your details, it WILL NOT WORK with any other phone number, so if you fwd it to a friend, they will get this message: Your MXit client could not be validated. Please download again from http://www.mxit.co.za/wap
Even tho there’s nothing wrong with the client.
You can also insert a serial yourself, follow the above steps to get your hands on both the jad, and jar file open the jar file with winrar, in the META-INF folder, open the MANIFEST.MF file with notepad, or any other text editor, also open the jad file with notepad, copy the last 5 lines of the jad starting with C:, and paste them into the manifest file after the last line.
Save the manifest file, winrar will prompt to update the file in the archive, select yes, and thats it!
Now just open the jar file with mpowerplayer.
If you have problems downloading mpowerplayer, I suggest downloading the SDK, which can be found at mpowerplayer.com
