MXit version 5 is set for release today.
News24 has the scoop on it, so read the article, as well as the mxit site has a post in the forum about it being launched.
I will keep you updated the minute there is a link to the new version. 
Update: Mxit v5 is live. Point your phone’s WAP browser to www.mxit.co.za/wap
Update 2:There was a bug when trying to download MXit v5 using Opera mini, in that it wouldn’t load the authentication image. To fix this, rather use your phone’s built in WAP browser to download MXit v5.

Hi Bryce, you need to download the .jad file from http://www.mxit.co.za/wap everytime you run Mpowerplay, if you want to run MXit v5
If you don’t want to do that, then rather run MXit v3. You can get that .jad file here: http://defza.com/mxit/mxitk.jar

Hey. If vista is anything like vista extreme then download the mxit file to your desk top. Once the download is complete “right click” the file. It should give you the chance to take ownership of the file. once you have done that install the file as an admin user or just as yourself if it is not requested then you should have no more problems.
