Another product has just surfaced out of Google labs – Google Spreadsheets. Files can be imported as .xls or .csv and can also be exported as HTML. They have not opened it up to the public yet, altough there is a tour of the product.
One thing it looks like they tried to incorporate into Google Spreadsheets was a desktop look and feel, so clicking the toolbar buttons bolds, underlines and changes the cell colour and font of the highlighted record.
Another feature is the realtime filesharing. Enter in the email addresses of the people that can access the document and they can login and edit the document at the same time as you. Theres also an onscreen chat window that will allow all participants to chat to each other while editing the document.
As with Gmail, the auto-save feature has also been incorporated into Google Spreadsheets, so no losing your work if you computer or internet connection malfunctions.
Definitely looks like Google are trying to take a piece of Microsoft Office’s cake.
