MXit on your PC

I’ve been watching my stats here for a while now, and the two most popular posts are What is MXit and how to get it setup on your cellphone and Chuck Norris jokes. Who would’ve thought Chuck Norris and MXit would make such a good combo on a blog!

But the other top search that is getting to this blog is how to get MXit setup on your PC. It looks like people want to use MXit as a IM on their PC more than they want to on their cellphone. So here we go…

5 steps to get MXit setup on your PC

1. Make sure you have the Java Runtime installed on your PC. Get the Java Runtime here.
2. Get a jar emulator for your PC – mpowerplay will do just fine! – Click to download it.
3. Get MXit’s jar file. Click here to dowload MXit’s jar file
4. Run index.jnlp. This will then fully download the mpowerplay application.
5. Once Mpowerplay has started, open the mxitk.jar file you just downloaded. Thats it!

Confused about index.jnlp and mxit.jar.jnlp?
index.jnlp = mpowerplay.
mxit.jar.jnlp = MXit.
