RSAWeb Data Centre tour

I was fortunate enough to be invited to have a tour of RSAWeb’s data centre in Cape Town this morning. RSAWeb are a hosting company focused on dedicated servers and all forms of web hosting.

RSAWeb Data Centre

Rob Gilmour, RSAWeb MD, chatted to us about their humble beginnings of 2 servers sitting in a bookcase rack, to the now 3 state of the art data centre’s they run.

Rob Gilmour introducing the centre

We were taken on a tour of the data centre in sets of 5 people, and in my group we had a hosting competitor coming to see what the RSAWeb were up to. Some industrial espionage maybe? :)

I also have a RSAWeb t-shirt to give away, so drop a comment below and I’ll draw a winner first thing tomorrow morning.

More pics after the jump or over on my Flickr photostream.

Looks cool J. Nice to see how SA companies grow from small humble beginings to nice big ones with big data centres :)

Yeah, we got to see some of those first servers – they stacked up on top of one another and still running! Only used for internal mail servers and the likes, so nothing hectic. :)

Entrepreneurs in the true sense of word, great to some South African movers and shakers.
