Springleap t-shirt voting has begun!

No, its not an April fools joke! The designs for the very first batch of Springleap t-shirts has gone live, and you can now login and vote for your favourite designs that will be printed!

A brand new site has launched in South Africa called Springleap. Springleap is a social network for t-shirt lovers, designers and artists. If you have heard of Threadless, Springleap is almost exactly the same, but was created to prove that the South African clothing and textile industry can stand on its own 2 feet. They don’t need to import any products in order to run a successful t-shirt manufacturing company! To make this happen, each month Springleap holds a t-shirt designing contest. The winning designs are chosen by the community of artists or others that enjoy the work. Each month, tons of prizes will be awarded. By empowering artists and designers, Springleap has created an amazing internet startup business.

We offer artists, designers and people with something to say the opportunity to be publicly showcased. Call us a gallery without walls if you like, but what better way to get known than to have your designs emblazoned on a t-shirt?” says Eran Eyal, one of the owners of Springleap

The winning design chosen by the community get the following awesome prizes:

• a STAGGERING R7482.18 South African Rands – so at a current conversion rate of 7 to the US$ – that’s like about US$ 1068.88
• your design and ALL the other winning designs (that’s currently 21 tshirts)
• limited edition poster of your winning design
• Sponsored prizes (these vary depending on who is sponsoring these prizes and what they wanna give you
• R2 for EVERY TSHIRT of yours that we sell

For the losers (well, the top 20 designs after the winner), get the following prize:

• Their own tshirt PLUS 2 others randomly selected from that month’s winning range

Springleap also promises viral exposure for all winning entries. This means Youtube interviews, blog interviews and a lot more. The t-shirts are also designed in a way so that the authors name is printed on the back of the t-shirt. Also a postcard is included with your story when someone orders your t-shirt. This company is doing a lot to get these artists exposed and it seems like a pretty good deal if you happen to be the months winner.
