Awards, awards and more awards! This time around its the turn of the “rounded corners, large fonts, primary colours, beta versions, double-vowel-names, hype , AJAX…” WEB 2.0 awards!
A couple of the categories dont have winners, simply because not enough votes were cast, or their weren’t enough nominations for the specific category. Nonetheless there were some really awesome sites nominated and some that I haven’t even heard of!
Some of the notable winners were:
- Peer Production News: Newsvine
- Photos: Flickr
- Blog Guides: Technorati
I’m wondering if SA has developed any fully fledged Web 2.0 applications? Rafiq has used some AJAX in a couple of his sites, but I’m not so sure if the sites fit the Web 2.0 mould completely. I’m thinking there should be an “SA internet awards” that runs concurrently with the SA blog awards, that could highlight some of the realy awesome sites / web applications that have been developed locally. Any ideas?
SA internet awards, not a bad idea, who’s gonna have the time to run something like that though?
Well who’s got the time to run anything these days! hehe
If theres a large enough interest, I could get something going. I mean the SAblogAwards was hosted on a free blogger account a couple of years ago, and has grown since. But they still use some free poll to log results of the vote. So they still got work to do…
Jason, wanna get something going?
Sounds like a really good idea. I’m sure I could also rope in my good friend def, and lets see where it could go…
