I’ve just installed MXit v5.4 on my Samsung U700 and it works perfectly. Download it for your phone at http://wap.mxit.co.za
So what is different in this version? There is a new logo, new loading image, entire new interface, new alert sounds, MultiMx is available (or was this available in previous versions?), new emoticons, MXit markup for typing so you can bold and underline words… the list goes on!

With this version, MXit has decided to stop supporting some of the older phone models. This will help them speed up development and push tons of new features without having to worry about older phones. They also can now make use of the newer technology present in the latest phones.
If you have an older model that is not supported by MXit 5.4, thats fine! You can still carry on chatting using V5.3. (But tell you parents to buy you a new phone for Christmas so you can upgrade to MXit 5.4!)
I see MXit have also updated their website (I haven’t checked in a while, so it could of been like this before).
Coolest features of MXit 5.4
- MXit Vibes – You know have the ability to send vibes to your contacts which will prompt their mobile phone to vibrate.
- Emoticon Packs – This feature allows for the downloading and transfer of emoticon packs which can be sent to your MXit friends.
- Inline Images – Allows small thumbnail images to appear as part of the text conversations.
- Audio Recording – The ability to record audio snippets up to 60 seconds, that can be sent as files to your contacts.

You can’t download mxit to your phone/PC and send it to a other phone or from PC to Phone. The Client will expire.
