Technorati dying a slow death

TechnoratiTechnorati used to be the be all and end all of a blog search engine. People were addicted to checking new links coming to their blogs, watching their ranking climb in the Technorati top 100 and with their super fast indexing, nothing was better.

They created a new feature called WTF – Where’s the fire (What were you thinking? ;-) ) which was a wannabe Digg copy, but it really was pathetic. They also redesigned, and starting using the marquee tag! That just there is a WTF!

But after seeing this new redesign – Yes, another redesign in just a couple of months, I can see Technorati heading for the Techcrunch deadpool.

Once Google joined the game with Google Blog Search, it all seemed downhill from there for Technorati. Today, you will find more relevance from Google’s Blog Search, and even sometimes Google itself with regards to blogs, than you ever will with Technorati.

A while back they also lost their 3 top executives, and laid off a couple of others so as not to burn through the cash too quickly.

It looks like Technorati has gone backwards from Web 2.0 and is starting to slide back to Web 1.0.
