An Amazon.com marketing feature

I’m still trying to wrap my marketing brain around this feature and the exact effect it has on the consumer, but it does look cool.

I was reading up on Microsoft’s new Ultimate Wireless Keyboard at Gizmodo and hoped on over to Amazon to check it out some more, when I came across this:

Amazon comparison feature

This is a pretty new feature from Amazon. If you think about it, it’s pretty useful. It almost gives you a little more faith in the product because more people have bought this model than a previous or lesser spec model. I haven’t tested it further to see if it will show completely different products, E.G. a Logitech keyboard, but if it did do that, wouldn’t that also then show you which product was superior?

I don’t know why this is baffling me or getting me so interested, but I find it somewhat interesting what you can conclude from reading stats like this. What comes to mind when you read it?
